WORSHIP AND MUSIC MINISTRY

The worship and music ministry of Central Baptist Church exists to bring glory to God and provide opportunities to bring people into the presence of God. Worshipers are able to participate through choir, orchestra, drama, and various musical groups. It is our desire to see all people experience God by worshipping Him in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23-24). Worship is a time where we connect with God, our Savior and our Lord. It is an act of pure adoration and God is worthy of all our praise! There is an opportunity to serve in the worship and music ministry for all ages with our rehearsals generally taking place on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Regardless of age or musical background, Central has something to offer to you!

Celebration Choir

The Celebration Choir is an excited group of worship leaders who desire to lead the Church in seeking and finding God, the one true audience, through weekly special music. We also minister in other ways throughout the year, such as seasonal music events. Smaller groups such as quartets, trios, and ensembles are selected from the Celebration Choir. If you are high school age and above, we would love for you to join us; enrollment is always open for this choir, and there is NO audition for membership! The Celebration Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:50 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the choir room below the Sanctuary.

Celebration Orchestra

This group of talented musicians are a vital par t of worship at Central Baptist Church and lead in our Sunday morning service at 10:45 a.m. They also take part in seasonal music events. The requirement for this group is good music reading skills, and a minimum of 2 years experience on an instrument. If you play an instrument, whether woodwind, brass, horn, percussion, or stringed, we would love for you to join us! We always need players in this worship ministry! The Celebration Orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:50 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Student Choir

The Student Choir is all about students serving God through their musical and dramatic talents. You do not have to be a "soloist" to join this choir, just have a heart for worship. It is about passion for worship more than about musical talent! It is so exciting to see students grow and develop in their relationship with the Lord! The Student Choir leads in worship throughout the year, and has the exciting opportunity to attend summer mission and music ministries. This group is open to all students in middle school and high school. Come join us - we would love for you to be a part of this exciting group!!

Preschool and Children's Music Ministry

The Central Baptist Worship and Music Ministry offers choirs for preschoolers and children through 5th grade. It is such a blessing to praise our Heavenly Father and teach our children God's word through His beautiful gift of music! This ministry strives to share with children the joy of knowing Jesus Christ, and to teach children the skills necessary for listening, singing, playing instruments, and training them musically and spiritually to be future youth and adult leaders in their Church and community. These choirs are very active and present seasonal musicals throughout the year. They meet onĀ  Sunday evenings from 6:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. Come, make a joyful noise!!

Handbell Ensemble

This ensemble offers the opportunity for members to praise the Lord through these unique and beautiful instruments. The Handbell Ensemble provides beautiful worship music throughout the year! This group rehearses on Sunday evenings from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. (Minimal music reading experience is preferred.)

Media

Sound, lighting and video technicians coordinate their efforts toward quality presentations of Sunday services, including a live broadcast on local cable TV Cable Channel 12 and taped broadcasts on WVLR Channel 96. Media support is also invaluable for major productions in conjunction with music and drama. This ministry does not require extensive training or experience. Any special training needed will be provided. All that is necessary is appropriate ability, a desire to please God, and commitment.
