One way we do this is by giving to our Southern Baptist Missions offerings. These offerings help to support missionaries in the U.S. and around the world, support children's homes in Tennessee, start new churches, feed the hungry and many other projects. We also take up special offerings when needs arise that have included helping victims of hurricanes, tornados, and floods.
Opportunities are also provided for "doing" missions. These include mission trips within the U.S. and around the world. Our Church members have built churches, led Bible camps and Vacation Bible School, participated in prayer walks, shown the Jesus film in the streets and sung in other churches. We also "do" missions within our own community by feeding the hungry through our own Caring Center once a week and at the Briceville Friendship Center twice a month. We provide weekly Bible study for internationals and for people in the Briceville community. We help people furnish their homes through the Ecumenical Storehouse in Oak Ridge. We provide counseling volunteers and have fundraising projects to fight abortion through Choices Resource Center. We assist and host workers for the local Habitat for Humanity. Central Baptist Church has our own "mission house" to offer housing to missionaries from around the world while they are on sabbatical.
